Swift and Sudden Change

Has anyone else noticed that change never seems to come slow and steady. At seasons in our lives, we sometimes feel like time is dragging on. Nothing changes, every day is a little bit like "Groundhog Day", on repeat one after another. And then suddenly, in the blink of an eye, everything is different. You are left reeling, trying to catch your breath as you realize that your whole world has shifted around you.

Welcome to the reality of our lives right now.

Both Rebecca and Sonia are in a reality shift. If you have read some of our previous updates, you will be aware that we are both pregnant right now--due January and February. Rebecca has had some complications and will be having a C-section at 34 weeks. This means travelling to Vancouver, a long stay in NICU and 4 extra kids for Sonia. We have been preparing for this for a few months now and as it gets closer life has been put on a bit of a hold due to countless appointments, trips to Vancouver, and getting ready.

Sonia and her family have been looking for some time for work elsewhere and recently got a job up in Dawson Creek! This is a huge change for everyone with very little time to prepare as they will be starting right after Christmas. So, on top of watching 4 extra kids during the surgery, Sonia is packing up her house and tying up all the loose ends in preparation for their new adventure up North.

Due to these general upheavals in our lives, we have decided to close up shop until the New Year. Our store will look a little bit different as we will now have two locations. One in Dawson Creek and one in Kamloops area. We will both ship and you will still have all our great designs and fabrics to choose from, but in a slightly different form. We still haven't worked out all the fine details and our Dawson Creek location most likely will not open until early Spring due to another sweet baby on the way, but change is in the air!

We will be having one last hurrah at the Westsyde Craft Fair at 2833 Westsyde Rd (Westsyde Fellowship Church) from 10-3. With all our in stock products available including crocheted items, a TON of crayon/felt rolls, nursing covers, totes, wet bags, coffee cozies/key fobs, and much more. We sincerely hope to see you there. In the meantime, we will have an album on our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/spoonersistersdesigns with all of our in-stock items. These items will still be available for delivery or mail out in the months to come, although it may take us a week or so to arrange to meet up with hospital trips, etc. If you would like some of our products in that album for Christmas, simply send us a Facebook message and we will arrange a way to get it to you in time for the holidays.

Please bear with us during this hectic time. We will aim to respond to emails within a week or less and look forward to starting up again in the New Year with some great new products, designs, and fabrics.

Wishing you and your families a wonderful Christmas season!

Whats New with the Spooner Sisters

If you have been watching our Facebook page you will have noticed a certain lack of activity in the last month or so. We felt like we wanted to explain our temporary "leave of absence" lest our following begins to think we have dropped off the face of the planet.

Both Sonia and Rebecca are homeschooling this year. With four little ones parading about Rebecca's house and 3 little ones in Sonia's, life has been a bit hectic with the start of school this September. Getting organized, getting a routine going, etc.

In other news, both Rebecca and Sonia are PREGNANT again! Thats right, number five for Rebecca and number four for Sonia. You can imagine that this has made life a bit more complicated and both of us are trying to adjust to this new stage in our lives. Rebecca's pregnancy has been having a few complications, so now we are adding trips to Vancouver for regular assessments, leaving Sonia with just a few more kids on her hands ;)

LIFE IS BUSY! But... sewing is not far from our minds and we are hoping to get more on top of things in the next month or so. For the fall we are planning on going to the Westsyde Craft Fair in early November, so stay tuned and come out and see us there if you can! We are also working on stockings, and will be posting pictures soon as well as sending out our newsletter with our different print options and the deadline for this hot selling item. If you haven't already, make sure you join our newsletter mailing list. It is an email we will send out every few months with updates on new products, new designs and prints, and what is happening with shows and events in the coming season. You can join the mailing list through our facebook page or just let us know you would like to be added with your email and we will manually add you to the list.

To sum it all up, we are alive and well, with fabric overflowing from our shelves. But by the time we sit down to think about sewing, we are usually falling asleep at our chairs. So stay tuned, we haven't forgotten about you and we are hoping to meet a bunch of you at the craft fair in Westsyde this fall. Enjoy your fall!

Teething Rings

Our teething rings are made with all natural wooden rings. We buy these wooden rings in the states, not china or hong kong, so we are sure of what they are treated with and their safety. They are treated with natural jojoba oil and beeswax to make them smooth and seal the wood. They are 3" in diameter, the perfect size for baby to hold and to give relief to those budding teeth.

The bunny ears are multi-functional. They are simply looped around the ring so they are easy to remove and throw in the wash when they get dirty. They are made with designer cotton, making them adorable, and backed with terry cloth, making them absorbent. The purpose of the bunny ears however, is ingenious...

Simply dip the ears in water and throw the entire ring into your freezer for about 15 minutes. When you pull it out, the ears will be crunchy and cool and the ring will be cold and refreshing! This ring is something I would have used for all of my children. It will last quite a while, but like the railing of your crib, will start to show wear as those little teeth start to emerge. If you need a replacement wooden ring for your teether, we sell those seperately for $10. (or simply buy another adorable pattern to add to your collection :)

Our paci clip/toy leash can be made in co-ordinating patterns and is a great addition to the teether. For a younger baby, simply clip the ring to your little ones clothes and you'll have a teething ring that is always accessible and clean, ready for baby to use.

For more patterns and prints, check out our facebook page or website and feel free to contact us if you want a specific combination or custom order.

Creative Chaos

What a great name for a craft fair... makes me think of my life. I live in a constant flux of creative chaos. In fact, I might use that term to describe the mess in the living room or the papers on the kitchen table. "It's not messy dear, its just our creative chaos!"

Life in the Spooner households are BUSY. And I know I can speak on Sonia's behalf when I say this year is flying by faster than either of us could have imagined. We are both homeschooling this next year so we had the privilege of going to the homeschool convention in kelowna this past weekend. As exciting as this is for both of us, it also means our lives just got a little bit crazier.

Our most current event coming up is Creative Chaos. This event is being hosted in Vernon, BC at the Vernon Recreation Center (3310-37th Avenue) on June 7, 8, and 9th. We will be setting up on the 6th which means... our poor hubbies will be left with all the kids for 4 long days! As much as we are looking forward to getting away and meeting new people, the thought of being away from our kids for such a long time is a bit disheartening. But needless to say, with anticipated traffic of about 20,000 people, Sonia and I are sewing like madwomen! If you notice we are MIA in the next few weeks, you will know we are booting our lovely little children outdoors and humming along to the whirr of our sewing machines.

In our rush to sew we want to include YOU in our process. We are going to try to post some pictures of different fabrics we have sitting in our cupboard and we want to hear from YOU. Do you love or hate it? What do you think we should use that for? Each post that is made will count as an entry towards our 300 like contest on facebook (make sure to like our page)! That means you could be the proud owner of a free coffee cozy/key fob or a $12 credit in our store. So keep commenting, sharing, and spreading the word about our products and we hope to do the draw soon!

Enjoy this sunshine!
